Deucemate (“Deucemate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a location-based social app that helps tennis players find partners, courts, lessons, events, and leagues near them. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or otherwise using Deucemate, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated by your use of the app.
Information you provide
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (handled securely by our authentication provider — we never see or store your password in plain text).
- Profile information: phone number, city and neighborhood, self-rated and verified skill level (NTRP/UTR), preferred playing style, and an optional profile photo.
- Optional social links: WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or LinkedIn handles, if you choose to add them. We only ever show other users whether a link exists (a “linked” badge), never the handle itself, unless you separately choose to share it after a mutual match.
- Content you post: availability posts, community posts and photos, event and lesson listings, league details, shop listings, messages sent through match requests, reports, and post-match feedback.
- Payment-adjacent information: if you list an item for sale or apply to become a seller, we collect the listing and application details you provide. Deucemate does not process payments or store payment card information directly.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: if you grant permission, your browser shares your device’s coordinates so we can suggest the nearest supported city and sort courts by distance. These precise coordinates are processed in your browser and are not stored on our servers — only the resulting city (e.g., “New York”) is saved to your profile.
- Usage data: basic technical information such as browser type, device type, and how you interact with the app, used to keep the service reliable and secure.
- Cookies: we use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to secure your session. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
2. How We Use Information
- To create and maintain your account and profile.
- To connect you with nearby players, courts, lessons, events, and leagues.
- To operate features like match requests, post-match feedback, reports, and blocking.
- To keep the community safe — including reviewing reports, moderating content, and suspending or banning accounts that violate our Terms of Service.
- To communicate with you about your account, activity, and updates to our policies.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
We do not use your information to serve third-party advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
3. How Your Data Is Stored
Deucemate is built on Supabase, a third-party database and authentication provider, which stores your account and profile data on our behalf. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your data within our database is restricted using row-level security rules, so, for example, only you (and, where applicable, admins reviewing a report) can access private information such as your phone number or an unaccepted match request.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. Ever. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With other users, as intended by the app: your name, city/neighborhood, skill rating, verification status, and public posts are visible to other users so the app can function. Contact details (phone, social handles) are only revealed once both sides accept a match request.
- With service providers who host or support our infrastructure (such as Supabase), under contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons, if required to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Deucemate, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — you’ll be notified if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy as a result.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: you can view and update most of your profile information directly in the app at any time.
- Deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing us at the address below. We’ll delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable time, except where we’re required to retain certain records by law or for legitimate safety purposes (for example, retaining a record of a ban to prevent re-signup).
- Data portability: you can request a copy of the personal data associated with your account.
- Location permission: you can deny or revoke browser location permission at any time through your browser settings; the app will still work, using your selected city instead.
Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws (for example, the California Consumer Privacy Act), including the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to request its deletion. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is necessary for legal compliance, dispute resolution, safety records (such as ban history), or enforcement of our agreements.
7. Children’s Privacy
Deucemate is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older, in part because the app facilitates in-person meetups with other users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we’ve collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest and database-level access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Third-Party Links
Deucemate may contain links to third-party sites or services (for example, a court’s location on a mapping service). We aren’t responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies separately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use of Deucemate after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise any of the rights described above, contact us at support@deucemate.com.
